What Sex Therapy Actually Is
Sex therapy is talk therapy. Sessions look exactly like any other therapy session — you remain fully clothed, there is no physical contact, and nothing clinical or uncomfortable happens in the room. What's different is the subject matter: sex therapy creates space for honest, informed conversations about sexuality, intimacy, and desire — the things most people have never had the chance to talk about openly, even with the people closest to them.
People come to Tenet Therapy for help with:
Low Libido & Desire Discrepancy · Sexual Dysfunction · Sexual Shame & Anxiety · Kink & BDSM-Affirming Therapy · Intimacy Issues · Sexual Exploration & Education · Compulsive Sexual Behaviorn · Sexual Trauma
What You Can Expect

Deep clinical expertise and insight, not guesswork

Real, direct conversation
Affirming of all sexualities and identities
No topic off limits
The Approach
Sexuality is one of the most vulnerable parts of being human, and one of the least talked about — even in therapy. Ty's approach combines sex therapy training with the same existential, attachment-informed framework that grounds all of his work. That means sessions go beyond surface-level technique and into the deeper questions: what you actually want, where shame entered the picture, and how to build a relationship with your own sexuality that feels honest rather than performed. Talking about sex is shamed in our culture, but at Tenet Therapy we believe in normalizing sex as a regular part of life.
This work draws on Polyvagal Theory to understand the nervous system's role in desire and arousal, Narrative Therapy to examine the stories you've inherited about sex and your body, and a genuinely affirming lens that holds space for the full range of human sexuality without flinching or moralizing. You don't have to worry about bringing up sexual topics to your therapist and then having to educate them.
At Tenet Therapy, we know sex, we are professionals in sex, and we understand the context of you and your sexual life.
Kink & BDSM-Affirming Therapy
A space where your sexuality doesn't need to be defended or explained.
Kink and BDSM are often misunderstood — by society, and sometimes by therapists who simply weren't trained to engage with it competently. At Tenet, kink and BDSM are approached the same way any other expression of sexuality is: with curiosity, respect, and zero pathologizing.
Whether you're exploring kink for the first time, navigating it within a relationship, or simply want a therapist who won't react with discomfort or judgment, this is a space built for that conversation. You won't need to educate Ty on the basics or convince him that your sexuality is valid. That part is already settled.
