Frequently Asked Questions
The easiest way to get started is through the online booking portal via the Booking button above. You're also welcome to reach out by phone, text, or email if you prefer. If you'd like to connect before scheduling, Ty offers a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation.
Your first session is a chance to get acquainted with Ty, with the space, and with the process. It's less about having everything figured out and more about starting an honest conversation. Ty will ask questions, you'll share what feels relevant, and together you'll begin to get a sense of what the work looks like for you specifically and start establishing goals for therapy.
Individual therapy sessions are $225 for 50 minutes. Couples and relationship therapy sessions are $250 for 50 minutes. Extended sessions are available and priced accordingly.
Tenet Therapy is a private-pay practice and does not accept insurance. This is an intentional choice — it allows therapy to remain confidential, flexible, and entirely focused on you rather than shaped by insurance requirements or diagnostic labels.
If you have a PPO plan, you may be eligible for out-of-network reimbursement. Ty can provide a superbill upon request that you can submit directly to your insurance provider.
All major credit and debit cards are accepted. Payment is processed securely through Jane App the morning of your session.
50 minute sessions require 48 hours notice for cancellation or rescheduling. Extended sessions require 7 days notice. Cancellations made outside of these windows will be charged the full session fee. This policy exists to respect your time, Ty's time, and the integrity of the therapeutic process.
Yes. Virtual sessions are available for individual therapy clients located anywhere in Texas. Couples therapy is conducted exclusively in person at the Houston office.
Yes. Ty works with couples, polyamorous, and non-monogamous relationships. Sessions are primarily conducted together as a unit, with some individual sessions incorporated as part of the process. Sex therapy is talk therapy focused on sexual concerns, intimacy, identity, and the emotional and relational dimensions of sexuality. Sessions look exactly like any other therapy session — you remain fully clothed, there is no physical contact, and nothing sexual happens in the room. What changes is the subject matter: sex therapy creates a space to have honest, informed, judgment-free conversations about things most people have never had the opportunity to discuss openly. It is appropriate for individuals and relationships navigating a wide range of concerns including desire differences, sexual shame, identity exploration, dysfunction, and more.
Yes, and intentionally so. Tenet Therapy is an affirming practice where LGBTQ+ identities, relationships, and experiences are not just accepted but understood. You will not need to educate Ty on your identity or relationship structure before the real work can begin. Ty also identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community and has a personal understanding of the queer experience.
Yes. Ty has experience working with polyamorous relationships, open relationships, and other forms of ethical non-monogamy. All relationship structures are welcome and familiar at Tenet.
Tenet Therapy is located at The Silos at Sawyer Yards in Houston, Texas - 1502 Sawyer St., Studio #237. Ty sees clients Mondays - Thursdays with first appointments starting at 9AM and last appointments ending by 5PM.
